Founders Story

Why Freedom Project?

During Abraham’s youth in West Africa, he experienced not only the tragic death of his teammate, but his own molestation.
After these tragedies, a deep loss of power came over him.

Abraham started facing symptoms of depression and anxiety. At the time, mental health wasn’t a topic that was talked about. Abraham didn’t know what was going on, nor did anyone else.

Eventually, after moving to the United States, he met someone who recommended that he see a therapist. In doing so, his whole life changed. Now, Abraham is dedicated to reaching out and helping people discover what he once needed.

Creators Story

Our Process - How do we plan to end the stigma?

Global Project Kick-Off

We will premiere the pilot episode in partnership with our impact partners in all 50 states and 3 continents. We believe a global video screening will bring a massive buzz to mental health. Our mission-driven influencers will share viral content to their combined audience of 6 million+ to raise global awareness.

Global Awareness Web-Series

We believe people want to connect on a deeper level, be challenged, empathize with one another, and share vulnerably; and they want to do it engagingly. Our goal is to figure out where the stigma happens by bringing different people from different backgrounds and countries to talk about thought-provoking mental health-related questions while producing short films and feature films focused on highlighting social issues through the lens of mental illnesses.

Final Impact Plan

Freedom Project: Season 1
Treatment

This documentary explores mental health stories by taking viewers inside the journey of individuals as they cope with mental illness. This upcoming documentary series will be the final piece to make mental health services accessible for everyone.

Impact Areas

Freedom Project was designed to address three major issues that add to the stigma around mental illness and prevent people from receiving the help they need.

1

Education & Ensuring Access to Care

Although mental health parity is a law, there are still many people that are being denied healthcare for mental health issues. We wish to raise awareness.
2

Calling for Improvements in Quality and Outcome

Not only can it be expensive to receive mental health services, but mental health care providers also lack the appropriate resources and tools to accurately assess patients.
3

Call to Action

We want to inform the community about laws and why we need the full implementation to protect mental health funds. Secondly, proposing early intervention mental health legislation and longevity solutions.
